......

sometimes i really wonder how pandas and humans manage to ever link to each other.

the first type eats bamboo shoots while the other eats anything and everything under the sun. yet humans have the luxury of looking like the former once they don't get enough sleep and pandas will forever just look like themselves. where's the fairness in that? :/

......

anyway the parent-teacher meeting yesterday went a hell lot better than i expected it would! haha mainly because:

1) steph told sharon tan who later informed my parents that i've been studying a lot harder of late and even "having a positive influence on my friends to study" LOL. ( i love you step!!! <33 :D )

2) my parents thought that the entire layout for the parent-teacher meeting seemed "fun" because its like some mass gathering of doom at the hall.

3) sharon tan was nice and told my parents that i generally pick up things pretty fast once she explains them to me and that i take initiative in my studies by consulting her for chemistry. *grins*

4) my mother met her long lost friend (after the parent teacher session) whom she queued with to buy Hello Kitties 9 years ago(aka weiling's mom) and was quite happy. xD (Lol and weiling's mom couldnt recognise me anymore cos i used to be super fat last time, and my own mam was grinning away happily since she was still recognised, which probably means she hasnt really aged that much since 9 years ago ahaha :D )

5) my parents have probably seen me mugging a lot more than usual ( usual in my case actually means none at all xP) so they decide to not be so harsh on me. ((:

.........

butttt that didnt stop them from yelling at me the very first time miss tan showed them my mid year results slip. ;_;

mam and dad (simultaneously): "WHUUTTT??!!"
me *wince*
sharon tan: " okok, before you get angry......"
mam: *glares at me* "i'm very very angry.."

yikes thank goodness miss tan was being very nice throughout to calm my parents down! im seriously going to continue doing my chem tutorials regularly in advance. xD

phew, thank heavens its all over, my parents can be really difficult to deal with at times.

hmm was reading sumiko tan's article this morning and as usual, i think her column is very thought provoking.

perhaps the ultimate key is finding happiness is just to lower our own expectations. we shouldn't go around "looking" for a happy life, but rather, try to find the joy in every single little tiny thing we do daily. maybe going to school could be stressful, but it is exactly such stress that spurs us on en route to future success. going to school may also cause us to sacrifice our precious sleep time, but i always think that having fun with buddies in school more than makes up for that. xD

like they say in econs, there is always an opportunity cost in whatever choice you make. but rather than harping on the opportunity costs of our every choice, we should just focus on the benefits of that choice itself and feel happy!

no matter what though, there'd definitely be people who are generally happier in nature and also those who are more susceptible to bad moods and depression. in the end, everything lies in each individual's mindset. you can choose to poke fun at sombre situations to lighten atmosphere and laugh off bad experiences or you could also wallow in self misery and harbour grudges against people. the only difference the 2 behaviours make are your own emotions. so why allow ourselves to make our own selves unhappy.. we have the power to make ourselves happy too and take complete control over each and every situation we face.
