okay. end of hong kong trip. 5 days nia. super short stay. our tour group only had 27 people this time round! the more the merrier mah. (haha and no really shuai guys. -.- ) seriously, hong kong is just all walk and not much sightseeing. just like singapore. that probably explains the SORE feet we're all nursing now. and the little hole in each of our pockets(except mine. you see, i conveniently forgot to change my sing dollars to the gang bi and so relied heavily on others' finances for my stuffs). for the boliaos, please read on. for the easily bored, please don't go beyond the skinnies. travel entries will bore the hell outta people. and i fully understand. all those years of YOUNG WRITERS with all those "really well written" travel entries just bore the skin out of me. unless im the one writing it hoho. =D the skinnies: - got chased around and shouted at by some woman police(speaking canto) for climbing up the flower garden walls. - got "chased" by salespeople(speaking canto) to buy some medicine. the everything (i have to write this.): day 1: flew to hongkong, where we caught a glimpse of who our tour group people consist of(hmmmm)... met our tour guide, who happily claims that his name is vincent yong. took a boat ride to lamma island and froze on the upper deck of the choppy waters. thought about the consequences of doing a "you jump i jump" reenactment and shivered all the way to the seafood restaurant. on the ride back, everyone who was at the upper deck appeared mysteriously on the lower deck. everyone. sometimes, cold can be overbearing. even for the guys. coupled with all that wind.. hmmm. explored the hotel. freakish small. tried banging on the walls to see how thin they were. they, apparently, stood pretty strong. (hell, that was insignificant) day 2: the morning call sounded at 6. woke up at 5.15 to wash my hair. had a full day tour. really full day. this was when we realised the full power of cantonese. this was also when someone as young as i got hounded in canto to buy some funny medicine. practically everyone in our tour group got stalked. even the poor baby, who was bawling away. freakish. really freakish. and the best thing was, the main sign on their factory had a glaring spelling error. HOUSE was spelt as HOVSE and the whole place became a subject of ridicule among us people. lesson learnt: in scenarios where you get approached by over enthusiastic hk salespeople, back away slowly one step at a time, constantly shaking your head and looking confused. it works. plus, throw in a: "um sek thaeng" and poof you can go free. day 3: DISNEYLAND. thats all there is to say. rides, games, shows... just two words: FUN & TIRING. day 4: i finally understood the true meaning of "feet pain". walking down 4 mrt stations and weaving thru all the shops took a toil on my poor feet. after many hours, i couldnt even walk. )= and we had to retire to our hotel to rest for a while before setting off again. plus point? we probably burnt away all the calories gained that day. happy part? bought quite a lot of stuffs(bags, clothes, food and clothes) from ladies street and temple street, the famed night markets which are must gos. all that suffering, while others went to the ocean park. )= day 5: i guess this was the main highlight of the entire trip. popped into kowloon park and marveled at the colourful flowers on display. not knowing any better, my sis and i started climbing up the flower walls flanked by pools of water. high they were. this was when we heard a woman donning police colours shouting. it was only after a full 30 seconds when we realised that she was shouting at us in canto and we had almost the whole park as audience. blissfully ignorant(didnt understand canto), we continued climbing the walls to the top, laughing at the way the woman sounded so pissed off. it was only after we realised that all eyes were on us and that there were actually STAIRS at the side of the walls to get to the top that it finally dawned on us that we were the ones being shouted at. WHOOPS. this was what the woman said after mam translated it to chinese for us: "xiao peng you! zhe bian bu shi ge ni men pa de! ni men yao shang qu jiu zou shang lou ti! zhe yang da le hai xiang xiao hai zi yi yang pa qiang bi! wei! xiao peng you!! xia lai!" coolios. we got yelled at in canto without even realising. the world is a strange place. aren't walls meant to be climbed? ************************* on our way back, i sat next to a korean boy in the plane. i seem to have quite an affinity with korean people. hmm. | ||
