golden compass' ending was super abrupt.

it was nice.

but not all that nice.

oh anyway i was in the mrt on my way back home when i came across this really irritating couple who don't seem singaporean.

the man made his presence felt the moment he entered the train.

raising his voice in chinese, he spitefully says to a group of seemingly innocuous teenage boys hovering in the middle of the train:

"young people just don't want to move further down the train and crowds at the entrance instead. this is what i call SELFISH! ZI SI!"

the funny thing was that the group of teenagers were NOT at the entrance of the train and furthermore, there was a severe lack of space in the train so there was absolutely no possibility of moving much further down.

after eyeing the teenagers and shaking his head continuously, he spoke to his other half in halting chinese.

"you see that man beside you! the minute the train jerks, he is going to hit you! take the newspaper and cover yourself!"

the meek woman shook her head quickly and looked rather embarassed by the commotion that man was stirring up.

after a while that man spoke again, repeating the same "cover yourself" statement over and over again.

"see that bitch's bag in front of you. the moment the train jerks, it is gonna hit you. YUAN1 WANG4!"

he went on.

"you should push them away! YING4 YIng4 push everything away! don't get taken advantage of!"

and on and on. it didnt occur to him that at 5.30, it's singapore's off office hours and for sure there'd be a crowd in trains. it also didnt occur to him that public transport is not called PUBLIC TRANSPORT for nothing. it's for the public.

then a friend had to get off the train and says politely to the people in front of her:

"excuse me, sorry."

that irked the tiresome man.

"excuse me excuse me! excuse me what excuse me. the train door's not even open yet and you say excuse me!"

coming from a man who complained about the selfishness of teenagers previously. do we call this ironic, or simply just plain ironic?

before the damned man hops off at his designated spot, he says to his other half,

"hurry! PUSH your way out! people come near you just push them away! don't bother about them!"

and he goes on to push other people out of his way.

standing just behind the couple all along, i really think they, or at least he, sucks.

you either learn to put up or shut the hell up. you don't rant and rave at just anybody for your own sadistic pleasure. that said, i really find the aforementioned man insufferable and also a public nuisance.
